Masters in the Chapel is a 4-concert series presented by First Lutheran Church of Venice. Since 2001, some of the best musicians in Los Angeles have performed in the serenity and acoustic splendor of our sanctuary.
We have presented chamber groups from the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Los Angeles Master Chorale, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Thornton School of Music, Colburn School of Music, and many other internationally recognized musicians. We were the first to host the Hear Now Music Festival, the renowned annual festival devoted to presenting new music written by Los Angeles composers. Acclaimed organists have also graced our halls to play our state-of-the-art pipe organ designed and voiced by Manuel Rosales - the same man chosen by Disney Hall.
Our one-hour concerts are offered free-of-charge, thanks to generous support of First Lutheran and donations from the Venice community.

“Eclectic, immersive and mesmerizing; guitarist and songwriter Hiroya Tsukamoto embodies the
notion that music has no language: Beautifully raw and cathartically emotional, Tsukamoto is a
world-renowned, self-made musician.

Cristina Montes Mateo, harp ● Susan Greenberg, flute ● Judith Farmer, bassoon
All three musicians perform regularly with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, and the Los Angeles Opera. The joy these musicians have found playing together, and the special musical communication they share, make this unusual combination of instruments a unique and rare concert experience. The program will include works by Frank Bennett, Piazzolla, Brotons, Gernot Wolfgang, and Ravel.
