Guess Who's Coming to Dinner

Wondering just where you fit in at First Lutheran? This will help. Guess Who's Coming to Dinner is a great way to get to know members of our First Lutheran community on a more personal level. That includes the school families, the congregation and newcomers - all of us. If needed, childcare will be provided at the church.

Share a meal with 8-10 adults in someone's home. Guests bring an assigned portion of the meal - main dish, salad, vegetable or dessert. The host provides table settings, drinks, bread and a light appetizer. You do not have to host the dinner to participate. The schedule rotates, so you will usually be with new people at each dinner. A schedule will be sent out one week before the dinner.

  1. Who should sign up for Guess Who's Coming to Dinner? All worshippers at First Lutheran, both members and newcomers. All school families in First Lutheran School. Anyone who enjoys fellowship and food.
  2. How does Guess Who's Coming to Dinner work? Four or five couples or singles gather at a host's home on a weekend evening. Everyone brings a portion of the meal - main course, salad, vegetable or dessert. After the end of the sign-up period, participants receive a schedule telling them where they will be going for dinner and what part of the meal they will be bringing. Host/hostess will call to remind you the week of the dinner and will provide directions to their home if needed. They will also indicate gathering time.
  3. What if I can't cook? That's what the deli is for! You don't have to be a great cook. Just relax and enjoy!
  4. What if I sign up and then find out I can't attend? Let your host know or call one of the organizers.
  5. I'm interested, but have small children ...
    If there is sufficient interest, childcare will be provided at the church. Some hosts do invite children to come along. Let us know your needs on the sign-up form.
  6. What if I don't drive or I don't drive after dark? Please let us know when you sign up, and a ride will be provided.
